Brainwave
Entrainment Features |
 |
Binaural
Beats, Isochronic Tones, Harmonic Box X and more
All tone-based brainwave entrainment methods are supported, including
the popular Binaural Beats and Isochronic Tones. For the first
time, other methods such as Harmonic Box X are supported natively,
without having to use additional tracks or work-arounds.
Sound Filtering
Sounds and playlists can be used directly as carriers for brainwave
entrainment by using Mind WorkStation's built-in audio filters.
And,
using
all-new features,
this
can be done without distorting the music.
AudioStrobe
AudioStrobe is integrated, making Mind WorkStation compatible with
every AudioStrobe device. A configuration utility makes it easy to
get the right levels for your device. Brightness, phase, waveform
and many other features can all be controlled individually.
Screen Flashing
Using the computer monitor for photic stimulation has been perfected
in Mind WorkStation, increasing performance and adding to the overall
effect.
The only limit is your computer screen's refresh rate.
Right / Left Hemisphere Stimulation
Built-in
features make it easy to stimulate the left and right cerebral hemispheres individually,
without having to use multiple tracks and other complex configurations.
Random Stimulation
Random stimulation has shown promise in many areas, and
is drawing a lot of interest from researchers. Mind WorkStation
comes
with a full set of randomization features, allowing
you to
randomize
not
only
the
brainwave frequency,
but
also the times, phase, intensity, pitch and any other part of the
session. Unique features give you the
ability to "texture" the randomization, or filter it
for specific uses.
Control Frequencies In Real-Time
Brainwave stimulation and other session components can be controlled
in real-time (as the session is playing and the client is listening),
enabling a level of client-therapist interaction not
possible before.
A
special
tool called the Console makes the process easy for
a therapist but more importantly creates a smooth transition between
frequencies, to prevent the client from being startled.
EEG & Biofeedback Driven Stimulation
A range of EEG and biofeedback devices can be used to drive the brainwave
stimulation. For the first time, built-in features of the software
make it easy to use and configure this. Using a
revolutionary modular interface, you are able to experiment with
a range of popular protocols for EEG-Driven Stimulation, as well
as build your own. Example sessions are included.

Connect
to Multiple Devices
Mind WorkStation supports a wide range of both personal
and professional biofeedback devices. The ThoughtStream,
LightStone and GSR2 are supported, along with the myriad of devices
supported by linking to software BioExplorer and BioGraph.
Gather Data and Information From Biofeedback
for Research
Use data collected from biofeedback and EEG devices as an aid in
research. Built-in graphing and research tools make it easy to
chart data from multiple sources.
On-Screen Visual Feedback
The screen display features can be used as a feedback mechanism for
any supported biofeedback device. The complex visualizations used
can act as a biofeedback game. Example sessions are included,
with instructions on how to construct your own feedback and games.
Content & Brainwave Frequency Control
Biofeedback can be used to control nearly any part of a session,
such as the pitch, brainwave frequency, phase, and so on. Built-in
templates and example sessions make this easy for beginners, and
advanced users have unlimited flexibility in how the feedback is
used in the session.

Content
& Creation |
 |
Sound Files, Playlists
Add unlimited sound files to any session, and place them anywhere
on the timeline you like. Also add playlists for special features
such as crossfade, looping and shuffling (randomization).
White Noise
Generate white noise of multiple "colors" and configurations. Low-pass
filtering makes it easy to further smooth the output.
Ambience Generation - Randomly Generated
Content
Mind
WorkStation incorporates some very unique content types, such as
the Ambience Generator, which arranges thousands
of small audio samples to produce a unique ambient environment,
such as a forest, a beach, crystal bowls or wind chimes. The best
part about this type of content is that it is different every time
you use it.
Piano Controls
Use the piano controls to harmonically arrange tones for special
types of stimulation, or simply to create a more pleasant session.
Exporting
Export to MP3, OGG or WAV. Compressed exports (MP3,
OGG) are automatically configured depending on the content of your
session. This is very important with brainwave
entrainment content, where incorrect compression settings can negatively
affect the signals,
or strip them out altogether.

Effects |
 |
Designed For Brainwave Stimulation
Effects are implemented and designed specifically
to be used with brainwave entrainment. Sound effects in other programs
can
often
act
to degrade
the precise patterns necessary for effective neural stimulation.
In Mind WorkStation, everything has been meticulously designed to ensure
that sound and visual effects will promote brainwave entrainment, not
impede it.
Echo, Reverb
Echo and reverberation are able to add an important psychological
component to a session, particularly ones that incorporate verbal
guidance or hypnosis.
3D Positioning
3D positioning is a unique Mind WorkStation feature allowing you
to position audio content in 3D space. When the listener wears
stereo headphones,
the sound
will appear to be positioned in relation to them. The sound can
even be moved along a path, such as around the user or from side
to side. Doppler, echo, reverb and other 3D effects are used
to enhance the effect.
Pitch & Tempo Adjustments
Adjust the pitch and/or tempo of any sound file or tone.
 |
Special
Effects & Filters |
 |
Phase Control
Unique phase controls in Mind WorkStation allow you to not only control
the phase of brainwave stimulation, but also ramp or change that
phase as the session progresses! This offers some very interesting
research opportunities.
Waveform
Editing
A waveform editor allows you to literally "draw" the waveform
of your choice. Choosing from different waveforms
can completely change the outcome of a session. The ability to
create new and original waveforms offers virtually unlimited possibilities.
Waveform presets are included; some specifically designed for brainwave
entrainment.
Band-Pass
Use band-pass features to single out specific frequency ranges for
use in the session.
Low-Pass
Use low-pass features to smooth out white noise, reduce harmonics
in tones or for special effects with sound files.
Frequency Band Selection
A unique, patent-pending feature in Mind WorkStation, frequency
band selection allows you to actually select a specific part
of a sound file to use as the carrier for brainwave entrainment.
For example, you could select only the bass. Or, you could single
out a specific instrument. This greatly reduces the distortion
caused to music by entrainment frequencies, and enhances
the effectiveness by allowing increased intensity levels.

Screen
Display |
 |
Screen Flashing
Use the computer screen to stimulate the brain in or out of sync
with the audio. The color, waveform of the flickers, phase and
everything else can be controlled. Flashing can also be added
on top of visualizations.
Visualizations
Mind WorkStation supports a common visualization plugin format, with
hundreds of visual plugins available. Visualizations can be used
for their hypnotic properties, as a feedback mechanism for biofeedback,
or can even be "pulsed" to provide a subtle
form of brainwave entrainment.
Color Display
Colors can be displayed on screen and even changed (ramped) as the
session progresses.

Light/Sound
Devices |
 |
AudioStrobe
Using AudioStrobe signals, Mind WorkStation is able to communicate with most
mind machines on the market today. In doing so, you will be able to control
the lights of mind machines directly from the computer, while enjoying
the robust audio and biofeedback features Mind WorkStation offers.

Graphing |
 |
Chart Session & Biofeedback Information
Graphing features allow you to easily chart
any part of the session and also data coming in from biofeedback
mechanisms. An intuitive interface makes this a simple and powerful
tool for personal and professional research.
3D & 2D Graphing
Extensive graphing features are included. Both 3D and 2D are supported.
You can easily zoom in or move the graphing area. In 3D you can
rotate or affect the 3D depth.
Lines, Area, Points and more
The way the data is formatted and presented in the graph is entirely
up to you. Presets include lines, area and points, but you can
also customize the chart in any way you like.
Export to Images
The graph can be exported to any popular image type, such as JPG,
BMP, PNG, TIFF or even PDF.
Export to XML, HTML, Text, Excel
The graphed data can be exported to common formats such as
Excel or XML. HTML and delimited text are also supported.

Simplicity & Convenience
Add binaural beats, isochronic tones, playlists, ambience, AudioStrobe
and virtually any other content type from a single menu. Mind
WorkStation will handle all of the filters and configuration
for you.
Presets / Templates
Presets for entrainment make it simple and fast to create any type
of session. Templates give you an even easier starting point.
Spline Ramping
Easily change the "curve" of a ramp to adjust how one point advances
to the next.
Steps
"Steps" are unique to brainwave entrainment, where in many cases
it is more effective to step from one level to the next instead of directly ramping
between frequencies. Mind WorkStation makes this easy to accomplish.
Node Looping
Node patterns can be looped, making it easy to alternate stimulation.
Multi-Track
Add unlimited tracks to your session and arrange them using a powerful
multi-track editor.
Modular Interface
This "modular" interface allows an unprecedented level
of flexibility, while remaining intuitive and easy to navigate. Sub-programs
known as engines are displayed as icons at the top. Each engine can
control
content or entrainment frequencies, or gather information from external
biofeedback devices. The
entrainment frequencies are also edited on separate tracks, independent
of the content.
Designed For Brainwave Entrainment
The interface is specifically designed for brainwave entrainment
professionals. All the tools you need are at your fingertips,
with additional enhancements to make it even easier and much
more flexible.
 |
Recording
& Text-To-Speech |
 |
Microphone Recording
Mind WorkStation includes microphone recording capabilities. While
recording, a new track will be added to the session and the recorded
sound will be displayed as the recording progresses.
Noise Reduction
Noise reduction features automatically filter out noise that is not
your voice. This feature has been improved over other software,
and now allows adjustment of the noise reduction level in order
to better adapt to your microphone configuration and recording
environment.
Text-To-Speech
For those who don't have microphones or don't like the sound of their
voice, text-to-speech features are implemented.
 |
Flexibility
/ Programmability |
 |
Editing frequencies, waveform, phase, intensity
Mind WorkStation provides a revolutionary amount of flexibility.
Everything can be controlled independently - frequencies, waveform,
intensity, phase. Not only that, but these options can be changed
mid-session. Even separate waveforms can morph into each other.
This allows for research and experimentation possibilities never
seen before.
Engines
Mini-programs called engines are used to exert an expert level of
control over the content and brainwave frequencies. They allow
you to set up your own formulas, data sets, randomization, and
algorithms. Advanced users and researchers will find engines
to be an invaluable
asset. Templates and example sessions are included.
Expression Editor
Expressions can be used all over the application, enabling advanced
users to create their own formulas for synchronization, filtering
of biofeedback data and more.
Microsoft .NET Plugin Interface
An innovative plugin interface allows Microsoft .NET programmers
the ability to interact directly with Mind WorkStation. The programmer
doesn't have to worry about generating sound, controlling mind
machines or communicating with biofeedback devices - Mind WorkStation
does all that for you. The plugin interface is a way for the
programmer to implement new, innovative and/or proprietary algorithms.
Plugins can also be used to communicate with other devices not
yet supported
by Mind WorkStation.
