WorkStation
Software that uses audio/visual patterns
to help guide the brain into various mental states
using brainwave
entrainment. This can be a
very useful complement to neurofeedback, or any

devices by receiving data from BioExplorer. This is

All EEGs are shipped
directly from the manufacturer to you, always via express
mail. The mailing option you choose in the shopping cart
will not affect the price of shipping EEG items.
Shipping directly from the manufacturer is
meant to save you money, and to ensure that you get the
latest EEG hardware with the most recent updates and
improvements.
Due to high demand for these EEG units, there
is occasionally a back log of orders. Please
allow 1-4 weeks for delivery. In most cases
EEGs ship out within a week, and arrive within 1-2 weeks.

| Biofeedback |
Biofeeedback is a learning method based on
your own body and the signals it sends to you. By "reading" your
own body and mastering its messages and what it needs to
improve its performance, you can become more self-aware of
your moment to moment state and your options to change that
state. Biofeedback is non-invasive, and can translate your
body's distinctive signals into a variety of forms - sound,
visual and sensory.

Entrainment |
Brainwaves represent electrical activity in
the brain, and brainwave entrainment is a method of stimulating
this activity using patterns of sound or light. |
| Neurofeedback |
Neurofeedback is biofeedback focused on signals
and measurements of the brain, EEG and HEG included. EEG
biofeedback is training to increase flexibility and resilience
of brain states based on electrical brainwave patterns available
at the scalp.

| Electrodes |
Electrodes are small, sensitive metal conductors
placed on the scalp. They are capable of picking up very
faint electrical signals.

(Electroencephalography) |
Electroencephalography, or EEG, is the measurement
of electrical activity in the brain using electrodes placed
on the scalp. |
| HEG
(Hemoencephalography) |
Hemoencephalography, or HEG, takes advantage
of the fact that the brain gives off more heat and has greater
blood flow and oxygenation in areas of high activity. HEG
headbands use infrared light to measure the heat or oxygenation
of the brain to get a picture of the level of neural activity
over areas of the scalp.
There are two types of HEG, pIR and nIR:
The pIR or passive infrared headband, developed
by Jeffrey Carmen, uses an infrared thermometer to measure
the temperature of the brain at the skull under the headband
sensor (temperature being an indirect measure of brain
activity in that area).
The nIR or near infrared headband, developed
by Hershel Toomin, sends pulses of red and infrared light
through the skull to the brain. By measuring the color
of the light that is reflected back, the headband can indicate
how much oxygen there is in the blood, which is an indirect
measure of brain activity. Highly oxygenated blood will
be redder in color.

Jeff Carmen's pIR HEG headset
The pIR headset passively monitors the energy
radiating from the brain in an infrared band using a sensitive
thermocouple. This energy is related to brain metabolism
and blood flows. More information is available from Haworth
Press.
Hershel Toomim's nIR HEG headset
The nIR headset uses near infrared spectroscopy
technology to measure blood coloration in the brain. It
is designed to allow conscious control of localized blood
oxygenation. For more information see Biocomp
